The project Mediateca dello Spettacolo - Mediateca dello Spettacolo

The project Mediateca dello spettacolo handled by Fondazione Campania dei Festival, was born to illustrate and promote the performing arts of the Campania Region through the Digital Ecosystem, conceived as a Data hub, a platform realized to publish content and data open source owned by other bodies. Those bodies, generally Institutions and Third parties, are grouped to be easily found according to citizens, companies and organizations’ needs.

In this first step of the project, an experimental action of new services of research and cultural deepening is carried out with the aim of promoting the culture of the performing arts. Those are represented in their historical and current manifestations, creating a synergy between the performing arts organizations present on the regional territory and the cultural institutions that own documentary heritage of this sector. The performing arts sector, therefore, becomes one of the elements of union between different languages, where there is a constant attention to creative research and innovative content. It will constitute a regional reference pole for activities like research, collection, cataloguing, study, preservation, valorization and legal deposit of the performing arts heritage.

The systematization and archiving of materials (documents, scripts, photos of the scene, posters, programs, periodicals, academic publications, objects and furnishings, costumes and accessories, video and audio materials) will be aimed at the historicization and creation of a site to preserve the events already carried out, enabled to public use. The catalogued materials concern: 

• the protagonists of the Neapolitan artistic seasons (directors, artists, choreographers, dancers, composers, musicians); 
• the enhanced places of cultural heritage and landscape; 
• partnership and sponsor relationships (the existing one and those under development at a national and international level); 
• shows hosted, produced and co-produced;
• different types of documentary materials made available by cultural institutions but also by amateurs and lovers of the performing arts; 
• video documents converted into digital format;
• historical texts and documents pertaining to the sector;

Cataloguing will also make it possible to simplify multidimensional associations in order to create collections or thematic or inter-thematic paths. 

Mediateca dello Spettacolo also contains a section dedicated to the history of the performing arts, fed with content and digital materials coming from other domains of the ecosystem. It will be constantly aligned with the applicative and technological evolutions of the Ecosistema Digitale per la cultura, both in management of archived materials and in the innovative ways users can use them.
